Break-Even Odds Calculator
Every win rate has a matching break-even price. If your actual average odds are below that number, the strategy loses money long-run even while still winning some bets.
How it works
A system winning 40% of the time needs average odds of at least 1 / 0.40 = 2.50 just to break even - anything lower is a long-run loser despite winning less than half the time.
Worked example: A 55% win rate needs at least 1 / 0.55 = 1.82 average odds to break even.
FAQ
Why can a system with a high win rate still lose money?
If the average odds taken are too short relative to the win rate - for example betting heavy favorites - the payouts on wins don't cover the losses.
How is this different from implied probability?
Implied probability goes from odds to a win rate; break-even odds goes the other direction, from a win rate to the odds needed.
